We will be happy to answer all your questions.

What is the difference between a natural pregnancy and a surrogate pregnancy?

Physiologically, a surrogate pregnancy proceeds in the same way as any other pregnancy achieved through IVF. The process follows standard medical protocols and is closely monitored by specialists.

How is embryo transfer performed for a surrogate mother?

The embryo transfer procedure for a surrogate mother is identical to that of any IVF patient. During a cryopreserved embryo transfer (cryotransfer), the procedure is performed on the 18th–21st day of the menstrual cycle in a medical facility under the supervision of an embryologist and a reproductive specialist. The procedure lasts about 20 minutes and is completely painless.

Where does the surrogate mother live during the program?

Our Center requires that surrogate mothers reside in Abu Dhabi from the time of embryo transfer until delivery. The provided accommodations are fully equipped with all essentials, including bedding, household appliances, and wireless internet, ensuring a comfortable stay.

Can a surrogate mother see her family during pregnancy?

Surrogate mothers are allowed to live with one of their children during the pregnancy. However, other relatives cannot reside in the provided accommodations, as this may affect the well-being and comfort of other surrogate mothers in the program.

Can intended parents request specific conditions for the surrogate mother?

All obligations of the surrogate mother are outlined in a legally binding agreement, verified by a notary. Any additional requests from the intended parents must comply with legal and ethical standards and require notarial approval before being included in the contract.

Who covers the cost of food and medication for the surrogate mother?

Each surrogate mother receives a monthly allowance for enhanced nutrition. Additionally, all necessary medications are purchased and provided by our Center.

Are sexual relations allowed during a surrogate pregnancy?

Once a surrogate mother has completed all medical tests and entered the program, sexual activity must be strictly avoided. This is to prevent the risk of sexually transmitted infections and gynecological complications, which could endanger the pregnancy and the child’s health. Uterine contractions caused by intercourse may also lead to miscarriage. Failure to comply with this medical requirement could jeopardize the entire program, and the surrogate mother is responsible for adhering to these guidelines.

Can the intended parents refuse to take the child after birth?

In the UAE, the intended (genetic) parents are legally recognized as the child’s parents from birth. Abandoning the child is not permitted and carries serious legal consequences for the parents.
