What is surrogacy?

Surrogacy is a method of infertility treatment when a woman (a Surrogate mother) agrees to carry and give birth to a child, not genetically related to her, for a married couple who will become the child’s parents.

Embryo cultivation is carried out using in vitro fertilization (IVF) method by fertilizing germ cells of the biological parents. Euploid embryo is transferred into uterus cavity of the Surrogate for further pregnancy carrying.

According to the legal regulations, a Surrogate cannot have any genetic link to the child. Therefore, a Surrogate is not permitted to simultaneously act as an egg donor in this program.

A potential Surrogate shall meet the following criteria:

  • the candidate must be of suitable age: from 20 to 40 y.o.;
  • have at least one’s own child born naturally;
  • positive Rh factor;
  • no caesarean section in gynecological history;
  • good physical and mental health;
  • no criminal record;

What is the difference between the natural pregnancy and a surrogate one?

Pregnancy of a Surrogate physiologically proceeds in the same way as for the most pregnant women, whose pregnancy occurred after the embryo transfer via IVF treatment.

What is the process of embryo transfer to the Surrogate?

The embryo transfer procedure to the Surrogate is completely identical to a similar transfer procedure via IVF for any other woman. Embryo transfer in a cryoprotocol is carried out on the 18-21st day of the menstrual cycle, takes place within the walls of a medical institution under the supervision of an embryologist and fertility doctor. The procedure takes 20 minutes and is absolutely painless.

Where does the Surrogate live?

Our Center considers it mandatory that Surrogates are based in Bishkek from the moment of transfer until child delivery. All residential apartments the Center provides to the surrogates are fully equipped for living – they have bed linen, all necessary household appliances, wireless Internet.

Can a Surrogate meet relative during pregnancy?

We offer our Surrogates accommodation with one of their children. Accommodation in an apartment for other Surrogate’s relatives is excluded, as this may create an unfavorable atmosphere for other Surrogates.

Can biological parents demand certain conditions from a Surrogate?

All the conditions a Surrogate must comply with are established in a notary Agreement. The notary necessarily checks the compliance of the conditions with the norms of the law, the absence of violations both from a legal and moral point of view. In this regard, specific conditions at the request of biological parents will require confirmation of the possibility of their inclusion by a notary.

At whose expense does the Surrogate eat and purchase the necessary medications?

Each Surrogate is entitled to a monthly payment for improved nutrition, and the necessary medicines are bought and provided by our Center.

Are sexual contacts allowed during the pregnancy of a Surrogate?

As soon as a Surrogate passes all the medical tests required for surrogacy journey, any sexual contacts shall be excluded, since there is a risk of sexual transmission of infections and gynecological diseases, and this may threaten the pregnancy and the health of the child. Also, uterine contractions during intercourse can cause miscarriage. The surrogate is fully responsible for non-compliance with this medical rules and prescriptions.

Can genetic parents refuse a child born by a Surrogate?

In the Kyrgyz Republic, intended parents are immediately recognized as the parents of the child. Any abandonment of a child has corresponding negative consequences for the parents.
